sflo2 wait or now? or invest in headphone

The thread about S:FLO2 is pretty interesting. While all people were happy about the sound quality, many were not happy about the sudden hickups. I have an ipod video 30G now. Would you recommend getting the S:FLO2 now or wait until the quality control gets better? Or invest that money towards a better headphone. Cowon has better quality control for a comparable sound quality?

What headphones do you have now?Telling that would let us give you an advice.

I have AKG 240DF 240M & Grado 325

Well those Grado's should do well from most portables with a decent amount of grunt, which by all reports the S:Flo2 has. Not sure about the AKG's. I think you're probably fine with the cans you have now.

Since you already own a quality source component, I'd advise waiting to see if the Nationite player get's more refined.

Have you considered a quality IEM? The midrange of IEM's these days are very, very good. They isolate very well, which means you not only drown out outside noise, but because of that you'll listen at lower volumes. Lower volume usually means better, less distorted reproduction, and it's better for your long term hearing health. Just something to consider.

Yea if you are ever out and about and need sound I'd suggest picking up some IEMs. However if you aren't looking for those... I'd suggest maybe... holding off? I mean there's nothing wrong with saving your money for things down the road (something I am horrible at; just bought a Clip+ with the arrival of my UM3Xs today just for the heck of it)...

But I have the T51 (same as s:flo2) and love the player. The UI is manageable and once you get the hang of it, version 2.00 is not that bad. Very basic and gives you amazing sound quality.

i too in the same boat as you . I've been itching on getting the S:flo2 but every time i read the impression thread it keeps me away from getting one. The thought of player freezing and not playing certain songs is just horrid. I think its better to hold it off till the summer since theres afew more "audiophile DAP" coming such as rocoo and j3

I don't really want in-ear headphones. As for quality control, or how well the player was debugged (software and hardware) before productizing casts a big doubt. I am hoping some more mature company like Cowon would be better in this department, while sound quality might not be on par with the S:FLO2 (not saying that it is not), it would be okay for me.

Sennheiser IE8+Fuze 2G (great combo) or IE7+X1060(better sounding than many like D2+)........

Hmmm I have two Teclast players and a Cowon D2. My Teclast M50HD is metal and more solidly constructed then any other player I have held. My Teclast T51 feels more robust then my D2. At the price you pay for Teclast and what you get, it is a no brainer. As for quality control, on my D2 I was reloading the the firmware every month as the database kept corrupting. The D2 sounds sad compared to the T51. As does my missus iPods. Unless you are dirt poor, the T51 is not a big investment and worth the punt.

yes the sflo2 is very slick and solid and well built ,using folder browsing i have no issues at all with the firmware ,battery life is 2 nights listening to me but i just let it charge while im using it, also the touch screen sensitivity is perfect
I loved my d2 but it went up for sale as soon as i listened to the sflo ,some tracks that sounded just ok on the d2 were transformed with the sflo2 the seperation (due to the dual dacs?) transforms more complex .layered music

I agree. I went and bought a Clip+ for the times on the weekend when my T51 dies at my dad's house so I still have a good alternate (along with the fact that I can put that in my UM3X case and bring that to school; lugging the T51, LoD, Tomahawk and Triple.Fis in the case = big pockets.
