Are there any non DIY DACs that use the SABRE32 chip?

For under a grand..

At this time, no.

The Sabre32 DACs are commercially licensed so that is why you will only see them inside brand name manufacturers such as Oppo Digital.

I think you misread his question Welly. He was asking for NON diy dacs.

The uDac uses the sabre32. The oppo bd83se is a universal player that uses the sabre32 as well, but that isn't a dac.

Ah yes, I did misread his question.

Wrong. The uDAC doesn't use the Sabre32.

For commercial DACs, take a look at the Wavelength Denominator and the forthcoming Wyred W4S DAC-1. I haven't tried any of them but my Buffalo32s is by far the best DAC I've heard.

I believe the Peachtree Audio Nova uses the Sabre32. Coincidentally, I'm considering selling mine.

The Nova uses the ES9006, I think, which is not Sabre32 which includes ES9018, ES9012 and ES9016.

Eastern Electric - MiniMax DAC.

You're right, I'm wrong. It uses the sabre, not the sabre32.

Anyone figure out if the 9016 or 9018 is higher end?

may i troll nuforce fanboys and ask whats so great about the sabre dac?
If uDac and HDP uses the same dac yet sound so different, does it really matter its sabre dac?

You might be onto something here.

I prefered the HDP though, felt the uDac was a little warm to my taste that it became kinda boomy.

Then I went to a DIY shop and came across this -
CD DAC Lampucera lampizator

Sounds exactly like the HDP in terms of resolution and sparkle, much better than the uDac but still way cheaper than HDP ($50usd) - granted it was thru a tube amp and through bigger speakers.
Don't know how much it was modded though, so may not be a fair comparison but still.. but i digress.

I'm just thinking out loud...

Are you sure the uDAC and HDP share the same DAC? I don't follow the HDP thread much and so far I haven't seen any info about the DAC it uses.

The DAC chip itself doesn't say much about the final sound. Many factors (power supply, output stage, circuit...) affect a lot. What's so great about the Sabre? It has great specs and most importantly, sounds great to my ears.

From Jason from Nuforce, HDP use different dac than uDAC. DAC in HDP should be same as dac in Nuforce 1500$ CD player.
