Sounds like you all had a great time. Now I'm really sorry I couldn't make it. Ah well, glad it was great and good to see more people made it to this one. Thanks for the info on the gear, some really nice stuff there. I still love the antique look of the Zana Deux.

Custom cans? Who's are they? Who customized them? What's on/in them? Inquiring minds want to know. Details! Details!



I'm not familiar with the back of this head, but them cans look real good on it!



What were the impressions of the HiFiMan EF5 and DY-1? They look like a nice little setup for quiet hide-a-way listening corner. Need more input!

Nice photos. Thanks to whomever was behind the camera. Really helps to ease things for those of us that couldn't be there this time.

I'd second Chase's sentiments. I will give the HD 800s their due but initial impression was HE-5. For the price, I doubt you'll find better.

not me, i thought they were actually very comfortable. I thought maybe the leather headband would hurt after a while, but i had no such problem, and the ear pads are very nice.

Edit: and for all the people that said they are bass lite, thats true but only for the lower volumes, once i turned the EF-5 up to a certain point, its like a switch got turned on and all of a sudden the bass lined up with the rest of the frequency spectrum, and it was very impactful. Not as much as like my JH-13's, but not many hifi cans manage that

You just have to keep rubbing it in, don't ya? I've got to hear them once home. I'll be at WP on the 15th. If they get back by then, PM me. Better yet, mini-meet at Dukes.

Yeah, I thought they were light. The driver area is large but has little weight. DocHamm, you would like them I think.

hahaha, of course im gonna keep bringing them up, i pad over a grand for the darn things, you would too

im down for a mini meet at dukes, and the 15th may work, right now i work the second half of the week, but im switching to the first half, so ill be working saturday night through tuesday night, and that switch should be done by then, ill let ya know we should probably ask duke though huh?

and how are you gonna try my 13's? bring some putty of some kind to make the seal?

Edit: they better be back by then, lol i was expecting them back today, they've already shipped, put a pic of them up on their facebook for all to see my signed 13's

Custom cans? Those were probably my k1000 knockoffs. I had them at the meet. I think a few people got to listen to them.

Just Too Cool "Punnisher"!!!! Mini Meet at Dukes,.....? Well I can do 2-3 guys for a few Hrs on the 15th... I'll let you KNOW....... NO FIGHTING OVER THE "SWEET SPOT".....

Glad to hear that your JH13's made it back safely (happy camper now that's a funny play on words!!). I couldn't stand to be without quality phones for too long!!!!!! How well were they able to preserve the autographs? Can you tell that there is an extra layer of acrylic?

FYI, my hiface should be here by Tuesday. I'll let you know how it sounds and if it's worth the expense.

They did a good job, obviously where they were smudged already, they stayed that way, but all in all im very happy i did it. Cant really tell at all, except for the fact that rubbing doesnt smear anything, it looks the same as it did before i sent them off.

Thats good to hear, when you write out your impressions, make sure you link to them in this thread for us and is a mini meet to test it out a possibility?

I did get the hiface yesterday and so far so good. It seems to give better soundstaging and more accurate placement of the performers/instruments. The sound is a bit cleaner like a haze has been lifted from the music. The music just sounds good. I'm using it with pure music player and this combo has the ability to switch sampling rates with each track. This is something that iTunes cannot do and it allows me to listen to my hi-rez files natively (amarra does this too).
It's not going back.

I'll post more as I listen over the next few days.
We can surely get together for you to give the hiface a try!
