This is likely an odd question, however I had been wondering if I am damaging my sound quality by wiping the metal part (the one you plug in to your source - in this case an iPhone 3gs
) with my fingers whenever I plug it in. Thinking now that the oil from my fingers might be detrimental. Till recently I've kept my headphones in my pocket and I thought that i was actually preserving the source by doing it but now I wonder... Using a headphone case now... Any opinions? I'm not sure if I notice a difference since I began doing it.... If it is damaging then i would like some advice about how I might remedy the damage I've done. Thanks guys....
