I bought a Musical Fidelity V-Dac from LeTiger today. This was my first transaction from someone on Head-Fi and it went down without a hitch.
We live in the same city, although on opposite sides, so last Sunday by phone we decided to meet up 5 days later to make the transaction. He answered my questions truthfully and was a pleasure to deal with throughout the process. All we had was each other's word and I trusted that he wouldn't sell it to someone else. The only real concern I had was whether or not he had the receipt because it's good to have in case I want to sell it in the future. He assured me he did.
As far as the transaction is concerned, I have to laugh about it. It happened exactly like a drug deal would have went down. We decided to meet at a train station next to a park which happens to be notorious for drug dealing. We went to a park bench. I inspected the goods while he counted the money while my brother was watching for cops, due to the notoriety of the park.
I'm listening to the V-Dac now and it sounds perfect. It also looks brand new as described.
