Thomas Dolby

Any Thomas Dolby fans here? I'd like to have a discussion about his stuff, especially concerning the original Flat Earth release vs. the remaster (collector's edition) and what I notice.

My two favorite albums of his are The Flat Earth and Astronauts and Heretics.

Love him. I was lucky enough to find a laserdisc of his videos on Ebay.

I've always dug his cover of Dan Hicks' "I Scare Myself".

Agreed...

Re: the OP, I only have the original vinyl releases from back in the day, so although I'm a fan, I've never heard the remasters...

LOVE "Golden Age of Wireless" - and the remaster of that CD was excellent, IMHO. "One of our Submarines" is just brilliant.

I also really like "Astronauts and Heretics".

Thomas Dolby is very underrated in my opinion. I have "Golden Age of Wireless" and "The Flat Earth". "Hyperactive" gives me fond memories of dancing around crazy in front of the TV when I was little watching the video. I should look into getting some of his other stuff. Now that I have a turntable maybe I can find it on vinyl.

Yeah, he is very underrated. He and Peter Gabriel teamed up to do the closing song on the movie The Fifth Element called Little Light of Love. Great song, too!
