D2000 now same cable as D5000/7000?

if anyone knows, please let me know if D2000 is now shipping with the same cable as D5000/D7000

UPDATE: as per the conclusions on Page 5 of this thread, as of this time the D2000 is NOT shipping with the D5000/7000 cable. the D2000 and D7000 cables have the same diameter but different internals and slightly different sheaths (although the sheaths are very similar and tough to distinguish without close inspection)

No.

I thought main difference between D5000 and D7000 was the cable..

Nope. D5000/D7000 have the same cable, D7000 has a slightly more flexible sheath though. The big, and only (outside of finishing on cups), difference is that the D7000 uses a bigger magnet.

The main difference between the D2000/D5000 is cable and cups. The D2000 cable is literally crap (well, pretty bad).

No, the D2000 cable is not crap.
Where did that meme get started?

For a stock cable it isn't TERRIBLE, but it isn't a top tier stock cable either. The D5000/D7000 cable on the other hand is a pretty high tier cable in general, including aftermarket cables.

I compared a stock D5000 to one recabled with APS v3. There were some very subtle differences, but I wouldn't say the APS was clearly superior, it was better in some ways worse than others.

Now I can't say I've heard the D2K cable side by side with APS, but I've heard a Lawton woodied D5000 against a Lawton woodied D2000, so same drivers and same cups, cable was the only difference, and the D5000 cable DID have a noticeable improvement. Better separation, transparency, and clarity overall going from memory.

I've got your back on this one. People need to lay off the hyperboles.

x2. True that. The D2000 will always have a special place in my heart. <3

I don't know how to defend a cable. To me it is like trying to defend the accusations of being a witch from Monty Python and The Holy Grail. How do you defend that which you cannot prove?

Oh well. Here's a thread with pics of the insides of both a D5000 cable and D2000 cable: Cable differences between Denon AH-D5000 and AH-D2000 (w/ pic)
One person was brave enough to say they did a recable from the D2000 cable to the D5000 cable and heard no difference.

The D5000 is more flexible. That's a nice feature to have in a cable. The D2000 cable can be a bit unwieldy and uncooperative if there is even a single or partial twist or rotation in the cable. Both cables seem to have an adequate amount of copper in them. Both cables seem to be built well enough. I don't see complaints about the cables failing due to bad connections or other cable failure. If the D2000 really was crap it would be failing and inadequate for its job.

As to the new D2000 headphones using an upgraded cable or even the D5000 cable. That rumor has been debunked by Markl himself in a thread that I'm too lazy to find. He's seen many many D2000 headphones and said he has yet to find one with a different cable than the normal D2000 stock cable. Yet the rumor persists in the echo chambers of head-fi.

Here's a pic from my for sale thread:

Compare to the cable pic here:

So did mine look like the one on the right? Doesn't look like it to me. There are parts on the cable where white stuff was coming out. Could that be the cotton found in the D5000 cable? The y splitter is like that of the D5000 and not the longer rectangular splitter. I could be wrong. Meh.

The cable of my D5000 is identical to the cable of your D2000 though not as thick as the D5000 with what seems like a DIN connection?, on the picture below...
