Klipsch S4 Crackling??

Hey guys,

I'm new to the forum and new to the hi-fi world.

I just purchased the S4 yesterday and I'm getting crackling/static sounding noises at high pitches/high range. Is this normal or should I return the headphones?

* I am in the process of "burning" them in (5+ hrs, random music, classical , rock, hip hop, and pop)...and while the crackling seems to be getting better, compared to when I first got them out of the box, I'm just not sure if it's a defect in the product or I'm just trying to find a reason to not return them.....

Another thing is, while I just bought them yesterday, I really only have until tomorrow to return them because I have bought these on Vacation and would like to return them before I go home.

Thanks!!!

I would return them to Klipsch and see what they can do with it.

Thank you for your reply...I bought it at a big box store, I guess I'll just return it back to them...now I'm not sure weather to get another pair of headphones or stick to Klipsch...decisions, decisions...

The "crackling/static sounding noises at high pitches/high range" sound alot like you're experiencing the simblince (spelling?) problems alot of people have noted. They say that it gets better with burn-in, but if I were you and only had until tomorrow to make a decision, I would just return them/exchange them and see if the new set of S4's do it. If they do, then maybe you can try burning them in more if you're dead set on owning S4's. Otherwise, I would maybe try just returning them and looking into another set of headphones.

To be honest, I'm not dead set on the S4 - especially with this crackling....I think I will end up replacing them and seeing if this problem happens on the new set....seem like the most reasonable thing....

How do I know if it sibilance? I thought sibilance is when the "s" or "shhhhh" are pronounced. This sounds more like the headphones can't handle the high ranges....

My friend has a S4 for almost year now, and he says that it works perfectly, so If you like the sound of the Klipsch then get another one because my friends S4 work with no problem.
