Honestly, I grab my Clip+ over my Zip because I prefer it's Now Playing screen, it's a tape.
Hello, kinda new to the Clip, I was curious if there's a difference between the Clip, the Clip+, or the Clip Zip.
Sorry I really don't know where to begin. Mainly looking for a cheap alternative to my android DAP right now to bring to the gym and clip on my shirt with cheapy IEMs.
Why not get the newest clip sport??
I just need something I could use for the gym and I ordered the Clip+ instead since I just need the most basic features. Woo excited !
Why not get the newest clip sport??
Got the Clip+ today and in the middle of installing rockbox the application froze. Now I'm kinda traumatized. I'm returning this one and my new one should come tomorrow. It's stuck on the logo screen and it won't detect on the computer. I've tried so many reset button combinations as well. :'(
Did you try holding down the power button for at least 30 seconds?
Yup tried that, tried center button + power on, vol. up + power, tried power button for 1 minute. It doesn't show up on my PC or mac but I think tomorrow I'm gonna rockbox it through my mac and hopefully avoid any issues.
I assume you remembered to set the usb mode on the player to MSC?
Reading about all that drama caused by rockboxing the Clip+ I am postponing rockboxing of my Clip+ untilfurther notice.
Well, I've got battery related questions:
- In terms of the the Clip+ batteries' longevity is it better to run them down -
until the Clip+ shuts off on its own -
or recharge them when the batteries are very low, say, at 10% level.
I usually take mine down to 20% then charge, 10% is OK. (remember lithium batteries have NO memory effect)
- Also, is it good to top the Clip+ batteries, i.e. they're almost full (say 95%) and I charge them.
I would let them drop to at least 40% before charging, charging when at 95% isn't the best idea.
I did some research on lithium batteries and results vary but a good general rule is they like to stay between 40% - 80%
One main thing I read that's probably the worst thing for them is charging to 100% then storing them to sit.
- Is it safe to leave the Clip+ hooked up to the 2.1A wall charger (or a computer) for hours?
Does the Clip+ have any shut-off circuitry which does not allow overcharging (and possibly damaging the unit)?
Yes you can do this, there's no problem but if it were days I would take it off.
Pretty sure the Clip's battery has a protection circuit so it can't over charge, it just stops at 100%.
- Is listening to the music safe with the batteries fully charged and the Clip+ hooked up to the 2.1A wall charger??
In other words, is the electricity coming from the 2.1A wall charger overcharging (fully charged) batteries while playing music or not?
Yes you can listen while it's hooked up to a charger but again, try not to leave it connected for days at a time.
The most healthy thing you can do for your lithium battery is exercise it, keep the battery moving.
THE END
