with my rockboxed cowon d2+ whenever i start it i have to quickly press the hold button for it to boot rockbox, otherwise it starts with the original firmware. is there something like that with the clip+ so i could switch from rockbox to original firmware with a simple press of a button?

You can dual boot with Rockbox and the OF by holding the home button (or left button) while pressing the power button. If you want to get rid of Rockbox, delete the .rockbox folder, and download the original/unpatched version of a Sansa firmware.

I just had my mind blown when I was able to do that because the previous versions of rockbox I used didn't allow it, and I'm not sure if its a new feature or I messed up something on my iPod.

My old iRiver has been able to do that for years, but having this on the ipod would be handy.

So I take it the last semi-stable release were the ones released on 3-30 and 3-31 2010?

Sounds about right, I guess. Running r25326 here. Much, much more stable with micro SD than latest builds. Not sure which day it's from though. No radio and no recording with this build, if that gives a clue with the date. Man, I'm really glad it dual boots with the OF. These unstable releases are just enough to get me additcted to Rockbox again.

No radio and no recording is probably a pre-3-30-2010 build. I'm running the 3-30-2010 build and it working fine, including FM.

I can't wait until this gets stable.

Check out the notes for r25475. Looks like funman might have fixed part of the micro SD instability. Installing right now, will post results later.

EDIT: Shuffling through a playlist with 1624 songs on it. EQ is on, shuffle is on, 7 second crossfade is on, replaygain is on (prevent clipping is on too). So far, I've shuffled through 25 songs. With previous builds and these settings, it would've gone to *PANIC by now. I'm not saying it's perfect, but it seems to be better than the previous builds so far. Upgrade at your own risk, but it's working fine for me.

EDIT2: Took a little while, but got "Data abort at 3002674 FSR 0x8 (domain 0, fault 8) address 0xB48AD3A4". That looks like the same error I've got in the past, but it took longer to get to it. In any case, r25475 is as stable or more stable than the build I was using earlier tonight.

Version r25480 out now and in a word - Brilliant!

I've got no micro SD playback issues - So far everything is working perfectly.

Interesting, after your report I updated - with 25484 I could use microsd for like 10minutes, then it froze again.

I have just discovered a issue build r25480, I haven't tried r25484.

Whilst the new build (r25480) allows me to access and playback from the micro SD card perfectly, I've noticed that if I power down after listening to a tracks from the mirco SD card my Clip+ won't boot up next time. I have to reset by holding down the power button for ten seconds.

However if I power-down and switch back on after listing to a track from the Clip+'s internal memory I don't have the same issues, it powers up instantly.

oh great, now when i connect it to the pc it doesnt do anything... this is a huge problem
got any ideas on how to solve this?

edit: nevermind i solved it.. it wasnt set to MSC mode at OF
