JH Audio JH16 Pro First Impressions - Page 214

How long is the turnaround for people who sent in impressions in the last month or two so far? Just seeing what everyone's experience has been.

 

Mine took almost one month to get back including shipping from and to California.

After a few weeks of listening to my 16's I'm very glad I went with them over the 13's. The bass extension is absolutely brilliant and I can't imagine that having less would sound better to my ears. 

 

Only downfall I've found so far is that they are far too sensitive for my Headroom amp or my Macbook Pro headphone out. I really can't stand the background noise coming from either, so the only device I'm using for output is my iPhone. Might be time to think about a new Amp/DAC to pair up.

You could just use a cheap attenuator for the time being.. although it will color the sound it will get rid of the hissing and allow you to listen at lower volume levels than the minimum without the attenuator :)

I sent mine about the middle of Dec. for 13s and don't expect anything until towards the end of Jan. They likely did 3 months of building business over the holidays. Probably another month of adjustments to go with it as well.

I'm looking for a universal compliment to the JH16 Pros because I want to listen to a similar sound signature without risking $1000+. What should I be looking at?

TF10 imho, I use one for gym and on the go duty, got mine reshelled though.

 

Is there are better option with better fit? The TF10 is almost 9 years old, and the fit is kind of awkward.

As a fellow TF10 custom owner, can you expand on the sound signature comparison between them and the JH16? I haven't been able to find much comparison between a custom TF10 and the JH16, and I need some reading material to get me even more excited for mine to arrive!

 

That being said, I'm glad that you would say that the TF10 customs would make a good companion IEM for the JH16, since I plan to assign my pair to working out/mowing the lawn/etc.

compliment? I will say something like SM3 V2. so far it's the best compliment to JH16 I have heard. Better than lots of other universals. The only thing better than JH16 is TG334, but it's way too expensive.

 

It's quite a surprise a universal is able to beat a custom. Is this the case for the new Freqphase model JH16 if you've had it?

 

Also, is the SM3 v2 a close match with a similar sound signature compared to the JH16 Pro?

I haven't heard of the new model of the JH16, but I do know the sound signature remains with better instrument separation and more detail.

 

SM3 V2 sounds like the opposite of JH16 which has pretty neutral bass, very full organic presentation with better extended treble than JH16 IMO. The soundstage has better depth than JH16.

 

If you want similar sounding IEMs, probably akg3003?

 

IMO only Fit ear 334 can beat JH16, nothing else (universal) I have ever heard can.

As an owner of the AKG K3003i I can testify to the fact they are amazing headphones. They are my go to buds and the only thing I feel they could be replaced with is the JH3a which I am hoping to get soon. Just before I wrote this I moved the K3003 from my bed because I didn't want to fall asleep on them. I use them everywhere!

1Plus2 can ;). I've already heard from an owner of the JH16 that his new 1Plus2 model beats his JH16 & Fit Ear 334. I already felt the older model beat the AKG3003 and the  Fit Ear 334. The newer model just makes that disparity between them even larger.
