I did while I typed that first reply, and I just put it on repeat, just for you. She seems to roll the "r"'s and "l"'s a bit off the tongue, but their pronunciations are still recognizable. I hate to bring gear into this...but maybe it's your gear not picking it up that well.

I've never actually listened to it on my gear, maybe that has something to do with it. I've only ever heard it in my girlfriend's car

I'll keep digging for the older music. If I really need to cheer up, Slayer or Rage Against The Machine work quite nicely. Of course Curtis Mayfield should not be forgotten... 'Move On Up.'

The title of the thread needs to be changed. A lot of modern pop music sounds whiny. 70-80s pop was fantastic!

eh, there was a lot of whining in every era. We just have the ability to forget what we didn't like from bygone eras.

I've been listening to the complete motown singles collection a lot lately. Half of it is downright awful. I'm talking about freaking motown in the 60's. But we forget all the bad stuff that rolled out back then.

I think it's mostly a matter of selective memory/perspective

I watched some MTV recently to try headphones through the TV for someone. The sound was awful, but there were some advantages........
