its a mac, so its probobly running 64Bit mac os X, no problem with putting in 8GB,

the issue would be that theres a big differance between Mac compatible anjd Mac certified, the big apple tends to ask for a nice chunk of change for their certification, but if you dont mind installing it yourself, you can get it for alot less,
so 4gb in 2x2GB configuration of FB-DDR2/3 apple certified memory for 600 bucks, yea i can see that happening,

Given the software you'll be running I'd add as much memory as I could afford.

I'm getting quite disillusioned with Apple Macs.

My last Apple Mac runs at 3.36GHz and is superb. However adding a portable notebook is creating a headache for pricing out software to run on both desktop + laptop Macs.

I've been running dual systems for years - both Windows XP and Apple Mac (Tiger OSX). It seems that the Windows PC are more flexible for pricing and add-ons; as well as software; whereas the Macs are more user-friendly and a pure joy to use (apart from overheating, which my old Macbook does very badly). Battery life however is very good for a 5 year old computer.

Back to the drawing board again. Maybe a new 8GB notebook running Windows 7 is more attractive than a more expensive and lower spec'd Macbook Pro.....
