Is it possible to convert Sennheiser PC350's from closed to open?

I recently bough a pair of Senn PC350s, but after using them, i really can't stand the fact that they're closed. Is there any way to open them up by putting a different grill on it, or something along those lines? The grills from my HD595's look like the same size. Any help/advice is appreciated.

Sell them, buy a pair of open Senns instead.

Of course it is. All you need is a little bit of.... imagination.

Are you trying to change their sound? Or you just don't like the acoustic isolation of the closed phones?

If you haven't seen it already, this mod might be worth considering, although in my own experience, the phones remain quite isolating, even with the changed sound.

A drill press, precision bits, and a lot of patience

Sure, I do not see why not.
Cut open the cups and mount some kind of grill/mesh instead.

I've already performed that mod. I agree they are still very isolating even after the mod. I'm leaningtowards gettiing grills for 595's or 555's and seeing if I can mount them on the pc350's. Any advice how I could do that?

I'd bet a dollar that you would screw up the sound quality badly if you did this mod.

No, the mod works. The bass response goes up by quite a bit, although in my own experience, you sacrifice a small degree of clarity in the bass frequencies in the process. Still, unless you're downright allergic to bass, it's definitely an improvement over stock when it comes to listening to music.

One of the (slightly) more feasible theories that I've heard is that Senn deliberately engineered them that way to make common gaming frequencies/sounds come out through clearer, without any heavy bass to possibly drown it out. But if you're going to use them for music too, you might find yourself coming out ahead with the mod.

I was talking about converting them to an open headphone.

Ah, my bad. Yeah, I think I'm inclined to agree on that part. Still, you never know. Can't forget about the nutjob who first tried drilling holes in his 350's in the first place.
