I accidentally came across this product today..

Link

Some specs:
Wolfson WM8740 DAC chip
Digital out: Optical / Coaxial
Analog out: Line out or headphone out
Supports: 16G SD card (32G NOT TESTED.. )
Supports 44.1k/16 bit
Supports AVS-3/DTS 5.1 audio
Format: .wav only
Comes with rechargeable Li battery + charger + remote + 2G SD card + card reader

It's strange that the player does not support MP3 format

According to the link above, the player is now available for pre-order in China (around US $130)

Just thought some of you might be interested

Cheers

Wow... .honestly I think it's a good... concept? But it's not that... .functional. Depending on how good it sounds (and it's gotta sound amazing to beat out the s:flo2 (amazing player in that same price range)) and how easy it is to use it'll either flop or pick up.

Not being able to use FLAC or mp3 s a major turn off though.

looks like this QLS WAV is not as big as the last QLS WAV thread (QLS QA-550)
very interesting

The old one looks to have hit Aussie shores;
QLS QA-550

It's just the capacity that is the problem....lord knows who can survive on 16gb with wav.

Good mod thread here tho;

QLS

It is really incredible. When you rip music using EAC to an SD card and place it in this thing.... look out.... It becomes a $2500 CD transport. Yours truly was excited because one can validate, at a low price, what I have been saying all along about spin less (CD or disk drive) audio.

Pardon my plug..... I will happily remove my post if I have offended anyone.

It uses normal sized SD cards, any chance it will take a 64GB SDcard?

Looks fairly interesting, how does it handle read out and the audio library as it is .wav only?
Any EQ options?

10/10 for the sig, it's as good an admission of bias as ever you get,

They didn't even bother to test their player with 32G SD cards so I guess the answer is a BIG NO
post #14 of 131
this thing could be a head fi monster if they fix the capacity issue
post #15 of 131
yeah I saw this at DIYAUDIO, seems as you would think, its a fairly straight forward mod to tap i2s from the player and use as a transport. it may not be tested with higher capacity, but I see no reason why it wouldnt work. its not like you need a larger bit width to address more than 16gb. I wonder how much space the dac section takes up and whether I could simply install say, a buffalo II inside very interesting indeed. I may just rip it out of this case and put it in a larger one. I think i'm gonna put myself on the preorder. hey did you say this is actualy available in OZ? or just it has graced our shores?
