This is too cheap to be on Head-fi

I couldn't find a tool I needed for love nor money so I set out to make one

Brass tube 9/32" and brass rod 1/8"

Grind and file

Bend the rod

Go mad with heatshrink

Guessed it yet

YES its a 3.5mm jack tightener

Works a treat, no more slipping and scratching panels, just make sure the rod sticks out enough to engage the hole in the jack and it can't slip

cheers

We're going to have to ask you to leave. Or at least restrict you to the DIY forum only

Great idea.

It is a bit too cheap though. Maybe ... it could be cryo'ed. I'm sure it would then work to align the atoms in the jack as you tighten it, which would result in improved mids and better resolution.

(Ever notice how cryo always makes things better? Just once I want to hear someone say that their cryo cables sound like sh*t since their dunking).

Hmmm... I think it best to leave that comment alone.

The nerve of some people, being smart, creative, and applying themselves in new and exciting ways.

Yeah, I'm going to have to agree with you on that. But if we're going to cryo it, it should be made out of 99.99998% copper. Copper will sound better, and cryos pretty well, I hear. Once we get that done, I think we should make one out of silver, cryo it, and then AB the two tools.

Kudos to the OP! Well done!
