Shallow fit IEMs?

Thread Starter
I am looking for some shallow fit IEMs. I just don't find the deeper fit comfortable at all. The Ultimate Ears SuperFi 3 are on my short list. I was looking at the d-Jays as well. They look like a shallow fit but i couldn't find any info stating either way. Others? Thanks for your help.

I really don't recommend any of the ue's as comfortable or shallow fit. apart from the lower end models and the super fi 5 (non pro).

in fact the earphones you wanted to try i find are not comfortable whatsoever.

I have a pair of SF5 vi2, in my opinion they sound best with a deep insertion (with some bi-flange).

x3, however, very poor isolation.

Soundmagic PL50. Decent budget IEMs, very comfortable, average isolation.

The Final Audio Design FI-DC1601 series. Very expensive, but possibly the best earphones money can buy. They have the Shallow fit you require. But they are non-isolating; good for indoor listening only.

Super.Fi's are uncomfy no matter how shallow they fit, IMO.

Try the VModa Vibe or the IE8. Relatively shallow fit and very comfy to boot. They don't even need a seal to sound great. Though you can get a seal if you dig them deep enough or use big tips or foamies (gives isolation and changes the bass response, but shrinks the soundstage).

Yeah lower end UEs can sound good shallow with the right tips. Metro.Fi series for instance using Shure flex tips have very shallow insertion and sound awesome.

But the Frankenstein fit UEs like the SF3, TF10 and SF5 Pro, forget it.

What is your reasons for a shallow fit IEM? Comfort? Do you need to hear outside noise?

The HiFiMan RE0s offer a pretty shallow fit, average isolation are very comfortable to my ears and offer fantastic sound quality for the price.

SF3 cant be worn too shallow because theyre big and weighty and stick out some and will fall out of your ears, depending on your ear shape and size of course.
