This is just, uh, noise that's loud.

Though if they're following it up with an LP, does this mean the crown rests on SHOT IN THE HEAD's HEAD for only a little longer?

Not to be outdone by more than a decibel, the artist "Eat Skull" featured in the 2008 collection created a song called "Seeing Things" that gains down 17.05dB. And it sounds just as bad, but less intentionally. I only hope. I'm going to check it out in Audacity, but won't post the results.

This one's not going to be available for e-mailing because I'm deleting it on the spot (after spring break I'm doing the same for SHOT IN THE HEAD). Check out the torrent if you want the file. It's recommended regardless. Not including these two gems, there's only been one song I've deleted so far in all 3,000 I've downloaded, and a few more that I should have and will if they ever pop up on Shuffle again.

A new champion emerges!

Ty Segall, featured in the SXSW 2009 torrent, one-upped Rusted Shot with the song "The Drag". It clips like crazy, and the vocals are hotter than the sun, but overall doesn't really sound that bad. I thought it was just poorly made.

Then I saw the -18.05 ReplayGain. Ouch!

SHOT IN THE HEAD still gets my vote for one of the clippiest and worst-sounding songs ever, but this guy wins in sheer volume. This is the future, folks!

Updating the first post with this knowledge.

Shot in the Head would make an interesting christmas number 1. Imagine trying to play that in the background in the shops while you are out chrismas shopping.

Especially if the stores don't gain it down. One minute there's some mellow Christmas jazz or something playing, then the next a song nearly four times louder blares out of the speakers. Old ladies drop their groceries, skateboarders bust through the glass doors, and the manager starts rocking an air guitar.

That image is a lot funnier than it should be

Manager starts rocking on air guitar, Now that would be funny and worth seeing.

Oh man, update time.

Back in my dorm from spring break, and brought back the rest of the 2009 SXSW collection. Artist Gaybomb now owns the title, and wins it hands down. Their song "Crank Bang" is down -20.72db! I mean, you can't even get much louder than that! It's nearly at the physical limit! The quietest parts are very close to being as loud as the loudest parts. After clipping, of course, and believe me when I say it clips.

This song is obviously meant to be like this because it sounds like experimental noise. I don't like the song so it's still getting deleted, no offense to the masters of loud.

I dont want to ever hear noise that bad again.
