I just got some ms1i's today. I listened to them on my ipod touch 3g 8gb and a stock x-fi xtreme music and I thought they sounded great with some lossless quality music. Then I went and plugged them into my dads denon avr-3805 and listened to the same files on the denon. it sounded wayyyy better. The biggest difference I noticed was the bass seemed much better on the denon compared to the other two. I'm not sure if the eq settings were still adjusted for the 5.1 speakers. The clarity and sound stage of the denon was much better than the others as well.
I am looking for a portable setup that will sound this good. I had been thinking of getting one of the custom LOD's off ebay and an ibasso t3. For this price tho I could buy a used denon avr-3805 from ebay. Would the setup I'm thinking about sound as good as the ht receiver? I also am considering a diy imod so I'm wondering if this could come near the ht receiver with a good amp/lod too.
