recabled 1001 - (sound?)Jack problem

hi, folks!

I have just recabled my Denon 1001(markl mod as well).
i used 5 meters of argon 5005. minijack to rca cable (Argon Audio : Audio Interconnects: 5005 Cable)

removed the rca plugs.
the first problem was that it was just 2 wires + ground in the cable.
so i just cutted the cable in half and used the 2 wires that wasn't connected to the jack as ground. solded them to the jack, and connected all wires to the cans.

the wiring is right according to the multimeter.
the soldering is good according to the kick-ass janitor at my work

the sound wasn't that much better imo....
they sounds right on my ipod classic 160gb 2009(apple lossless)
but on my laptop, i only have sound on the left ear
and on my friend's iphone 3g the sound is sick weak (like broken standard ipod plugs)

so, have i done something wrong?
is it a crappy cable? (85$ )
it does not matter wich ground wire that goes to left/right?

thanks!! (and sorry for my crappy norwegian-english )

I am having trouble picturing exactly what you did. Did you double the wire? I hate to be the bearer of bad news but most likely you would have been fine using the cable as it was... you only need one shared ground in single ended connection. Can you take a couple pictures so maybe we can spot an error?

when i bougth the cable i thought it was 4 wires. (2 lead and 2 ground), but originaly it was 2 lead and one ground(no sheald/plastic covering, only the wire)

at first i just splitted the no-shealded ground wire. but i read in a thread that the ground wires should be the same diameter etc. ass the lead wires

so i stripped the cable down to the jack and removed the ground wire. then i took 2 wires from the upper part of the cable that i cut off(original lead cables) and solded these 2 wires to the ground in the jack. then i solded the other ends in the denons. so all the wires are from the same cable and are the same wires.

sounds like something is wrong with your jack..

they sounds right on my ipod classic 160gb 2009(apple lossless) <- connected correctly
but on my laptop, i only have sound on the left ear <- one channel not connected
and on my friend's iphone 3g the sound is sick weak (like broken standard ipod plugs) <- one channel connected to both.

the jack is probably not full way in. Push it harder, push,...

OK, according to your very nice paint art You have it wired correctly. It is possible as SUP suggested that the jack is not seating completelyyou should feel it engage three tabs as you insert it. I would then double check/reflow solder joints. Best of luck.
