Hey people, just join the M50 club! Got the M50CWH (Complete white, Japanese Version). I'm SO in love with it. I haven't burn them out yet as I've only got the phones a few hours ago. Just wondered if there's any good portable headphone amps under £70/$100 that will sound good with these phones?

The M50s don't require an amp.

Fiio E11 for under $60.00 at B&H-a terrific deal. Depending on the source I believe you'll find that M50 will benefit significantly from amplification.

They don't require an amp but the mids are more forward and the treble smoother with one..
Unless you prefer the sparkly, v-shaped sound.
post #1175 of 13237/10/12 at 11:56amQuote:I agree with this. For the M50, I'd suggest the E5 over the E11 if you want more forward sounding mids.
The E11 does offer better bass and a larger soundstage though.
One thing that surprised me is that with my HRT MSII DAC, the soundstage magically got larger.
Now I don't suggest everyone go out and get a $150 DAC, but most DACs should improve the M50 even further.
Believe it or not the Nuforce Icon Mobile (despite poor measurements) sounds VERY good with the M50 (and D2000).
If I still had the M50 I'd definitely be using it 100% of the time with an amp. Yes, despite most players being able to drive it well enough.

Are there any technical differences between the ATH-M50-WH and the ATH-M50-CWH ?
From what I can see, the ATH-M50-CWH is white all over, including the bezel on the left and right ears.
The ATH-M50 has Grey earpads and still has the silver bezel.ATH-M50-CWH

The only thing different from M50WH that I can tell is the padding color.

Good observation! Thanks for your input.
This is my second pair of M50 as I bought the black straight cable M50 last year from SoundProfessionals.
After seeing more user reviews and non-stock pictures of the M50CWH / M50WH, I could not resist buying a white version - purely for aesthetic reasons

Just ordered these. My jump from IEM's to headphones started with the $35 and under crowd. I've enjoyed pretty much every headphone I've acquired so far in that budget. Time to to try out the more upscale crowd starting with the infamous M50's... O_opost #1181 of 13237/12/12 at 10:20pm- saintyoo

Sorry to revive a thread that seems to have puttered out but i want to find a pair of those silver rings/bezels on the sides of the m50. I want to attempt to get them anodized a custom color to put on my ath-m50wh.
Dont wanna just peel mine off in case i bend them in the process (or if i mess up the anodization process).
Anyone know who carries parts? Thanx.post #1183 of 13238/15/12 at 11:21am- Doc-holliday

I did a brief search, and I couldn't find just the rings sold by themselves. Looks like you'll have to buy a whole other pair.
