I notice the "R" logo is not centered and that the "Audio Technica" logo on the headband is slanted slightly. I also got a chinese manual in the box. I've posted some photos of my headphone. Do you guys think it might be fake?

From another person who claimed it was a gift and never opened. I believe he is another head-fi member.

Is the board supposed to be yellow or green?

I purchased a pair about a month back and could not be more pleased.

I've never opened mine beyond taking off the pads, but the exterior looks very similar to mine. I can't make a difference. How's the sound?

Compared to my hd 650s, the m50 has a little more bass/thumping stuff going on. It's more lively. However, its significantly less detailed than 650s (even at the bass the 650s are highly detailed). I know, the comparison is not fair but I have no other headphones to compare with it. Does your "R" logo on your headphones look like they're centered or is it off to the side a bit?

That I don't know. I don't have another authentic m50 tocompare with. If the R is off center, it might be a a china fake. That's what I'm worried about.

Everything looks  authentic to me. I have the LE version.

I really enjoy my M-50's. Couple of mods. More to come. I dunno if I'll ever get rid of them.

Thanks guys. You made me feel better about my headphones now. Just another question. I have the coiled version but I feel it may be unsafe to stretch it. I heard the spring at the connector can break very easily. How do you guy stretch the headphone coils?

Also, how dramatic is the burn in for these?

I burned in my M50s for about 40 hours, and failed to notice any significant difference. And yes, my M50s also have the "R" slightly crooked compared to the L.

I've never listened to the 650s, but the M50s are definitely not as detailed as my T50RPs.

T50rp uses a faster, and better technology than both so has more potential IMO.  But the T50rp comes with it's horrid housing.
