Cmoy parts... - Page 3

the 22 gauge is fine, my issue with the smaller gauges is that the insulation is usually very thin. It tends to blister, melt and pull back away from the point where the wire is soldered...just a personal observation... you should build an interconnect for your amp...The custom length is usually best, based on your setup.

Since it's a portable setup...I'm not really sure what length I need. I didn't want to start cable and amp making at the same time if possible... :S

Once I build this amp or another at least, I'll buy some cable-making supplies.

as you can see in the picture, I used plain old wire in this interconnect and the cheapest 3.5mm stereo connectors radioshack sells...maybe 4 bucks invested

Lol, then maybe that'll work for me.

Another question...kinda unrelated to the Cmoy but I'm getting diamond cutters and full-flush cutters. Where should I use each? Or just one all the time?
unless I'm mistaken, the diamond cutter is a wire stripper that you can set to strip different sizes of wire...the flush cutter I have is my most used tool, for cutting almost everything from component leads to solder braid.

Yeah but I'm not sure whether to use the full flush cutter the whole time or not, don't wanna dull the blade too much.

I'm getting an Xcelite one from HMCElectronics for full flush.

you probably wont dull the diagonal cutters on the stuff we build...I've gone thru a couple of the flush cutters over the past 4 years.

Hmm ok. I'm just not sure if a flush cutter is necessary for certain things.

yeah...if you use it just for cutting leads off the back of PCBs, it should last a long time... the heavier cutting should be left to the other set
