Nokia N97 Sound Quality

I couldn't find a thread regarding the sound quality of the N97 directly so i decided to make one.

I am looking to buy one but i would like to hear some of your experiences before i decide if i want one. I will be pairing the N97 with my Senn IE7. Is there a custom eq on the N97 to adjust the SQ? I am not a fan of listening to the earphones at flat EQ, i like to adjust it to my likings.

If you have any relevant info, please post!

On par with the good music Nseries phones like the N85, N86, et cetera.

Much better than most phones.

Not quite as good as the iPhone 3GS or a dedicated digital audio player.

There is a built-in equalizer IIRC.

I had 5800 which is a copy of N97. I can say that sound is very good. No hiss at all, bass is strong. Highs are slightly recessed.

Thanks for that.
Do you remember if there was also a custom EQ?

I use my N97 to listen to podcasts and FM radio but not so often for music. The N97 does a good job for a phone that is also an MP3 player, but since I also have an iPod, the sound from the N97 is not comparable to the iPod. However, I enjoy my N97 everyday for it's web browser, email, and GPS as well. I'm a big fan of the N97.
