Hey Guys,

I have found a deal where I can get a pair of hardly used like new SR225is for 160 at a local Audiophile mom and pop shop. So I plan to buy em on friday but I eventually wanna do a wooden cup mod.

I go to an engineering school and we have all the necessary machines for manufacturing and protoyping anything literally anything.

Does anyone her have solidworks or any other CAD files for the cups of Grado SR225is ?

You are going to an engineering school and asking US for CAD files? Hey I think you are the best person around here to build those cups.

Just take them to a wood worker. Have the cups taken apart and if there any good, they can measure it correctly and get them done for you. The guy I had do a few pairs for me sucked at first and broke a few cups, was really good by the third pair.

Step 1: get a hair dryer and take them apart yourself. Use the search to find more detailed instructions.

Step 2: get out a pair of calipers and measure.

Step 3: decide what you want the wooden cups to look like.

Step 4: either machine them yourself or find someone.

Seriously, if you're remotely fluent in CAD or SW you can sketch up Grado cups in about 10 minutes once you have the measurements. And it'll be way more fun if you make them your design rather than using whatever is conveniently available.

I just thought some of you guys may have the CAD files for them. I kinda don't want to rip them apart ASAP cause they come with a 3 year warranty.

Its no problem for me to draw them in solidworks I jut thought some of you guys might have had the drawings already.

do any of you guys have them dimensions saved anywhere by any chance?

The answers you seek can be found using the search here and also google.

If your planning to do the wood cup mod your going to have to take them apart eventually.... just saying. Besides most wood cups will have to be made with a larger wall thickness than the plastic ones to let them keep some strength. Oh and if your planning to turn them on a machining lathe it can be trickier than a regular wooden lathe.
