Need ~24v lightweight, cheap battery

I'm building a portable apparatus that needs greater than 12v. I could use two 12v, 1.3Ah SLA batteries, which would be around $20 but that would weigh 2.6lb which is a lot. I could use a ton of AAs, but rechargeable would be $40+ which is too expensive and I'm not sure alkalines would drive enough current. Is there a common, cheap source of ~24v batteries that I don't know of? RC car batterys, maybe? I thought about buying 5 of these and wiring them together.

I have a lithium charger, but it sounds like a lot of fiddling if there is some other alternative.

9-12V plus boost converter circuit to 24V? Depends on how much current you need. I don't know of any batteries that are 24V themselves.
