I personally use my Ed8 with an amp since I want that little extra bit that for me, makes a lot of difference. However, I'll not assume that it's that important for the individual which the OP is referring to. Additionally, with cost not being an issue, the Ed8's look great, they sound great and they have a nice and small form factor that a young woman would appreciate.

Why no amp? She wants to spend lots of money, knows little about headphones but has an aversion to a headamp? So is sound more important to her or the asking price?

If someone is willing to spend money, they should care about getting the most out of the equpiment and sound.

Let her get the Beats. She has unlimited budget so it shouldn't be a problem. They sound good anyway. (*gets mauled*)
