I personally use my Ed8 with an amp since I want that little extra bit that for me, makes a lot of difference. However, I'll not assume that it's that important for the individual which the OP is referring to. Additionally, with cost not being an issue, the Ed8's look great, they sound great and they have a nice and small form factor that a young woman would appreciate.
