ACS T1 Custom Review and impressions thread! - Page 22

Hi

Does anybody know if these can be made in other colours? The acs website seems to suggest only clear or smoke?

Thanks in advance!

Clear and smoke are the only choices. Remember they are Silicon not acrylic.

Great choice going for the ACS T1s. Hope you get 'em fast and give us an update with what you think of them at some point.

After spending exactly one month with them, I have noticed that the T1 is quite track dependent, much more so than any of my previous universals. The mid forward and 3D presentation while works wonders with a large portion of my songs, actually sounds rather boring with some others which are not that dependent on the midrange. Even with tracks that are mid forward but overdone in the vocal department, hisses and sibilance can kick in crazily. That is to say lifelikeness does not necessarily equal better.

So yeah, in my opinion, the T1 is rather picky, but just the way I'd like them to be, excels in some areas but not that good an all rounder.

I second this. I was baffled looking at some of the designs where other people were actually "customised" their shells, but apparently it has been confirmed by ACS that they only do the shells in either clear and smoke grey due to the customers having to be able to see where the connectors are.

My T1's are back from their refit!  My bad, I used old impressions from 18 months ago and they were just....off. So new impressions and a bit of a style change. Anybody notice something different?  biggrin.gif

.

Thanks again to Adam, Allison and the USA based lab for a quick turn around and for getting me the first embedded art pair of T1's in the US.

The UK lab is still the only place where laser engraving can be done in the silicon. They are working on that capability in the US soon.

The fit is perfect and since they were my previous drivers, they are already burned in and awesome.

Damn it mate that looks absolutely stunning! Much much much better than all the faceplate artworks I've seen so far! The fact that it's actually embedded into the silicone shells rather than just floating above the faceplates makes it wicked awesome!

I just noticed this about the flags...When you pair up the Blue (Left) and Red (Right) dots the flags are embedded to make a single waving flag.  Very cool and great attention to detail!

Fine looking earphones there. I've been enjoying Frenchbat's super special versions.

Regarding 'boring' nature: I think that is the earphone disappearing into the music (or vice versa) and the sign of technical perfection.

Excitement, while nice, is usually the sign of accent. I have no problem with accent, but I think many will agree that the t1 is less about accent than many other earphones.

I have a set of T1s being made for me, and I should get it quite soon (hopefully till next week). I'm very excited! Interested to see how well they'll perform against my LEAR LCM-5s.

So can anyone tell me - are the T1's as good a perform as say the 1964 Ears v3's? or the Ety ER-4P's?  I am using ER-4P currently and am simply in love with them.  But I don't like they stick out of my ear so much.  I like the ACS as they use silicone not acrylic.  Any feed back would be greatly appreciated!!!

Mark_h should be able to do the comparison

Given the price and comparison to other customs, I'd speculate that the T1's performance is up there with the best - Heir 8.A, JH16 ,etc...but probably not as good money value as the V3 is.

I don't want to extrapolate untruths here, but I went with frenchbat to Suyama's place recently to demo all his earphones (including a top secret couple...) and from what I read into Frenchbat's impressions, the T1 remains top in many of her criteria. He's a critical one, spending 10-15 minutes with each earphone. We were there all afternoon.

Shigzeo, your review of the T1 on touchmyapps finalised my decision of getting the T1 Live! How do you feel towards it now, after going through many such a pair lately?

I still feel there are certain merits where the T1 is simply top. It has changed a bit in the 2,5 years since my review was complete, but overall, I will say, the uncoloured, strong mids are key and very hard to beat. Perhaps better than win/lose analogies are flavour analogies. The T1 isn't a 'sweet' sounding earphone. It is rather 'polite' but firm in its politeness, emphasising in pressure, the mids (somewhat) and doing a damn fine job of transitioning bass to mids (one of the best transitions I've heard). I do wish it has a bit more 'ring' in the lower treble and upper mids, but then if it did, I'd probably want it to act differently in another area.

Holistically it is perfect but there is always some atom to tear apart in any design.
