Same here; My iPod Touch broke because of the lack of pause button-- continually yanking out a headphone cable is a great way to bust a headphone jack and ruin a warranty.
S9 is a very nice machine with very good sound. It sounds beautiful in direct driving my headphones like HD25-1II without need any portable amp. Only make sure you have good quality record files. I don't think the EQ is needed by everyone, but upon your favorite. I am only curious how the X series Sony Walkman sounds compared with S9.
Paid $215 for a refurb, has worked perfectly for these first 6 months. I like the settings, mostly viva and headphone EQ's. Best feature is sound quality followed by the UCI, check out iaudiophile.net for some sweet interfaces!
