Which DAP?

OK, I posted this by mistake in the wrong forum so cut/paste here. Thanks for any help:

OK, I've been reading for days and can't figure out what to do. I need a new DAP. I use JH13 Pro's. My priorities are storage first, cuz what good is it if you can't carry lots of lossless? Second sound quality and portability. And since portability is an issue, I listen to the HP out a lot without an amp.

I think I'm down to buying either an iPod video with a 240 gig drive from iPodzens, or a 160 gig Classic but I can't get a handle on whether there is a significant audible difference between the two. I run iTunes with Pure Vinyl and Amarra at home so sticking with an iPod is also convenient, but that could be worked around.

BTW, I bought a 2008 Classic and returned it as I thought it sounded thin and lifeless, but some say the 2009 is better.

So I'm looking for opinions of those who have compared those two directly, or any options I don't know about that have large storage.






OK, so I need to order something.

If it was between the iPod Classic and the iPod Video 5/5.5g, which is the winner based alone on sound quality?

large capacity DAPs like Archos 5, Zune 120GB, iPod Classic and some small capacity DAPs with expandible memory, better sound quality like Creative Zen, D2+ and Zen X-Fi.......

If you want the best sound quality and aren't going to use an amp, IMO I would start looking at brands other than iPods....
