The headphone out of my azur 340a is better than the compass amp, the sound is fuller.

For a headohone amp i recommend you the millet mini max it can be cheap if you build it yourself, you can have a taste of tubes and i hear it is a good match to grados.

I think my shortlist will be;

Project Headbox MkII (£89.95)
V-CAN Musical Fidelity Headphone Amp (£59.95)

Both seem to suit phones starting at 30 ohms - 300 ohms.

I wish I could find a dealer willing to let me listen and choose, but there are very few dealers in my part of the UK.

Apparently Cambridge Audio are researching the viability of building a headphone amp.
No guarantees this will ever happen though.

Both are, well, at the cheaper end of the market.
Both are within the price range I am willing to gamble on this project.

Decisions.... hmmm...
