ipod touch vs zune hd sound quality

I was just curious about this.

Are there people who compared the sound of zune hd to the 2009 ipod touch?

From the brief listening I did with the westone um2, I found the treble and bass impact better on the touch compared to the zune hd.

I was just wondering if anyone else thought so....

you mean ipod Touch 3G??
i have both but never compare two of them side by side, will answer my opinion later

but what i am sure is ipod touch 3G is better than 1G and 2G, i know because i have 3 of them.
The sound of 1G is the warmest among 3

Yes! I mean the touch 3g compared to the zune hd.

From the brief listening session I had, I thought that the touch had better soundstage, separation and bass impact.

I agree. I got the ipod touch for comparing, and I prefered the sound of the ipod much better. Soundstage, vocals, and so on.

The bass was a little better on the Zune, but that was about it.

There was actually a thread from a user a few months ago saying how they thought the Zune HD's SQ was inferior to the original Zune.

I remember that, and I actually agree. I think the Zune 80/120 has the best of all the Zunes, and the player would be amazing w/a custom EQ & a bass boost feature.

The Original thread was about the Zune 30 though.

just to throw it in their as another comparison i had a cowon D2+ and recently dropped it for a 32gb 3g touch and i have to say i much prefer the sound, its a lot warmer than the D2 and that makes for a sweeter fuller sound.

i know this is not the comparison you asked for but thought you would like to hear other views, i am in the opinion that this latest touch is where the first touch should have been in terms of SQ... apple just needs to incorporate some more advanced tuning options to give further freedom getting the sound you want.

in regards the the zune... i have not heard it but it needs to be good to better the ipod....... << that i would not have said this time last year.

I think you are right about that. So would the 3g touch be similar in sound to the 3g iphone?
