Hello, Im new to this site and need some help.

I can accross this Audio Alchemy Digital Decoding Engine v3.0 from one of my clients. His brother had a heart attack and had a house full of high end two channel stuff. I made an offer for all of it and this is one of the items i got.

I was planning on setting up a listening area in my living room using some of this stuff but have never got around to it. Im thinking about just selling it but have no idea of its value. It is in like new condition with no scratches or anything. They are just a bit dusty...

this is what it includes:

Digital Decoding Engine v3.0
Power Station Three
Power Station Four
A remote
Connection Cable

any suggestions?

the dde 3.0 is a time bomb (I have 2 mostly-dead ones, myself). they all blow, over time. 2 op-amps and maybe other things (power supplies, often, too).

it has some internal chips that people want but the unit itself may die or already be dead (or the PSU).

even if it works now, it can blow itself up (chips) any day. that 3.0 was just a strange design... ;(

hmmm, this works fine and its odd as i have 3 PM's that speak very highly and 2 offered to purchase.

they offered to purchase probably because there's a semi-rare chip inside. that chip does not go bad but the 2 opamps do go bad. almost guaranteed. it was a design defect, not a parts defect. sooner or later, they break. was a poor design overall but had some good decoder chips inside.

The DDE 2.1 is the one to get, it doesn't have the strange analog stage and is bullet proof. I've left mine on 24/7 for the last 3 years. The HDCD and the Ad1862 digital front end is the same high quality as the 3.0. And yes people will pay over $100 just for those 3 chips inside as they are considered by those in the know as the best digital chips ever made.
