http://www.headphone.com

sets you back $25 for the basic Senn stock cable, you could upgrade to a Cardas for $150

Or you could get the cable from www.zucable.com or the www.stefanaudioart.com equinox cable

What are some other sources? Can we get a list of all the aftermarket HD600 cable makers?

Always check out the manufacturer first for replacement parts. Check out sennheiserusa.com.

I think the stock cable goes for ~$18 plus shipping.

£160 for a length of cable is obscene and only goes to prove that the placebo "visual" effect is sadly still prevelant in hi-fi circles. (thicker, different colour and costs a lot..... must sound better)

If the $15,000 sennheiser flagship orpheus has the same cable as the HD600 then what does that tell you? It tells me that it's the cable that sennheiser reckon works best with their headphones.......

Think about it.............

Cardas Cable incl shipping to the UK is about £105...

....Oh, and don't knock it until you try it

Pinkie,

If it sounds good, it is good. My ears can tell a difference and its definitely NOT a placebo effect. I have read dozens of reviews on cables and experienced two of them myself.

There IS a difference which is something that scores, if not hundreds, of people here will attest to. You can have your opinion, but it is contrary to many of us dopey HIFIers including numerous "professional" HiFi critics/reviewers who write reviews for online and print publications. You're the first person here who has said there's no worth in a cable upgrade. Prove us wrong.

If you are interested in the Cardas cable I know Todd R of TR audio has them and has very good pricing. Here's a link:

Pinkie,
I'd be willing to loan you a Cardas cable just to prove you that it's not a "placebo effect".

I'll bet you won't want to give them back.

This is supposed to be a debate-free forum, PinkFloyd.

I have some hearing damage and I can still hear a clear difference between the stock and cardas cable for HD600, even on an airhead and a portable.

Better driver materials improve the sound. Better driver enclosure design improves the sound. Better cable materials improve the sound, too. Better capacitors. . . and so on, ad nauseum.

This is off topic and technically not allowed on these forums. May I suggest listening to the cables before dissing them; also, refer to Tuberoller's excellent review.

Back on topic,

www.headphone.com/ sells the stock HD600 replacement, as well as the clou and cardas upgrades. You can also find cables on www.moon-audio.com and zucable.com.

Cheers,
Geek

Geek, off-topic, but I think "DBT-Free Forum" refers to "Double-Blind Test(ing)".

AFAIK, debate is OK, so long as it's more-or-less thoughtful and reasonably civil. :-)
