I think the culprit would be the ear tips and how these fit on you, not the e7, although if you are using the e7 make sure you don't use any additional bass boost settings as the MDTs don't need it.

I agree on the tips. Even though Monster includes a very large selection, the aftermarket Sony hybrids provide a better fit and seal.

Point taken Compoopers.  I figured since they were so highly praised and comparable priced NIB.  I guess I'll stop figuring lol.

MMDTs are not worth $500.

I'd say they are not worth $300.

$150 is a fair price for MMDTs, and comparing it against other IEMs in that price range is fair. Comparing MMDTs to 701s is insane, 701s are far better and far more expensive.

You can get the Miles Davis Tribute now straight  from Monster via their ebay store for $104.96 with free shipping. Use coupon code CMONSTER at eBay checkout.

That refurbished deal looks really difficult to pass up. Anyone know what the packaging is like for a refurbished headphone and if it's worth it? Little worried about durability and warranty.

It appears that there is no warranty unless you purchase a one or two year Square Trade warranty in addition to getting the IEM's. This product offer come with the IEM's, a tip assortment and a carry bag.

Mine came with a bag, inside was a case, and ear tips. The case contained the headphones. It was the blue case with the button

Interesting.... I paid $179 for my 701s new a few years ago.  I guess I got a steal.  Without going too far off topic, what would be a comparable level IEM to a 701?

I just bought a pair of the refurbs. I hope I like them. I'm a little worried about the durability of these as well. Anybody that have had these for a long time that can comment on durability. I'm sure they will sound much better than what I have now(PL30's).

I respectfully disagree.  I would say $250-300 would be a reasonable price for what you get.  Comparing them to 701s is silly as those are open back over the ear headphones with a totally different sound signature.  In other words, apple to oranges.
