What the heck?
How can it be missing the extra tips etc??

Hm...even they are an authorised dealer why would they sell something partial.

Tips are probably included. I meant stuff like no extra cases, literature about MD, no music CDs, etc. The guy said it's packaged by Monster and they are indeed a Monster authorized dealer.

I have no idea then...up to you - maybe wait for someone else here with experience in that domain to help you out.

This is an IEM that intrigued me and I wanted to get one, and no one had them. I am going to get both packages from Vanns and probably keep one. (Only then am I going to find out.) I'll report back. Actually receiving them is a week or so away, despite Vann's promise of 3 day delivery. (prior experience tells me.)

Tell you what, do your self a favour:

When you get both in:

-Open the control talk one that has "things missing"

And then check my unboxing video, to make sure what is and isn't missing :)

If you find it satisfactory, then don't even open the other pair, and get them refunded ;)

Now that's smart :D

FYI: MDT does not have control talk, but the Trumpet does.  Yes, you can return stuff, but once you open it, there's a very good chance they will charge a restocking fee.

That's what I thought...

So why would they be selling him that...it's all too odd for my liking - if it was anyone but an authorised dealer, then I would scream fake.

Thanks for the warning! :) But they have been nice to me in the past. I bought a bunch of speakers for surround and then eventually returned one set of bookshelves and a subwoofer with no restocking fee.

Grand idea! Will do.

Edited 5/3/12: Both sets are on the brown truck!  :)

I got trumpets back too.. Gonna miss those tributes, we had some good times together :(

Now I don't know how they sound, haven't opened them yet, but I don't know what's with all the hate.. The cable's more durable, control talk works with my iphone, etc... Is the sound quality that atrocious? Cause otherwise i'm not taking it out of the box, i'll just craigslist it. Just want a second opinion..

The SQ of the Trumpets is very good IMO. Joker agrees and should have a review up some time soon. Who's saying they sound atrocious? They sound different than the Tributes(much bigger soundstage, less bass, less forward mids) but they are quite good in their own right.

No one's outright saying it, it's just the fact that all the posts i've seen before complain about how they got trumpets instead of tributes, how the tributes were better, etc.. I just don't want to open it before I know it's a good call when I could be selling them for more than I bought the tributes for, (got em for $90.)

And I haven't seen this Joker on the forums.. I'd very much like to read his review!

Same here - received Trumpets as a replacement for my defective Tributes without warning. The trumpets take a little getting use to, and the sound quality does improve after break-in. The Trumpets to me actually sounded like a much narrower soundstage initially and too forward with the highs... however I'm warming up to them, or they may be breaking in at their ~20 hour mark. ControlTalk is a nice feature now that I have it though :)

man, I hope they will still honor the lifetime warranty(or atleast a couple of years) for you guys. As for me, my replacement last week turned out to be the tributes, although it was the older retail package..
