Monster Miles Davis Tribute appreciation thread - Page 139

Could anyone please let me know if there is any other IEM with exactly same sound signature as MDT?

Since availability is very less I don't want to take risk of buying this. I would like to go for some other IEM with same Musical and Forgiving signature

Thanks

MTPG/C would be the closest.

Quick update i just received my "replacements" and it is the Trumpet not the Tribute .. no warning or email they only had my defective tributes for 3-4 days before dispatching the replacement which i received 4 days from shipment.

I'm listening to them now because curiosity killed the cat, honestly i think i might actually like them better. less warm but still warmer than most balanced headphones and so far even with no burn in at all they have better resolution in the treble than my gr07's which impresses me, Bass is still powerful and impactful with good extension but with less bleed through than the tributes, Mids are not really recessed but not as forward as the tributes and to my ears a bit lacking in detail but not by much, Soundstage is great and there small even tho the barrels are huge they are very comfortable to my picky ears. Only drawback so far that i can point out would be the ipod controls ... bulky looking but i don't notice much difference in weight between left/right cable

I got mine for $100 USD used on the forums.  They are the best purchase I've made along side with the ALO Rx MKII.  I hope mine continue to last.

Question:

You know on the Miles Davis Tributes, right where the blue cable hits the IEM, there is that sponge-y black material?

Mine ripped on both sides after being in my pocket for a few months. I superglued it back fine, but it was kind of annoying that they both broke like that. It was almost at the same time too that each side ripped.

that's a known issue - the strain relief, breaking, it's at its weakest point there.

I saw a difference in Monster Miles Davis models where one's further detail is Gold and another's is Brass Silver Black with control talk. Are they essentially the same sound? Except that the Gold comes with the entire nice package of extras and the latter is perhaps just the iem with a tip assortment and it's control talk and mic?

I'm confused.

Both should be the same with everything included - is there even a mic version that actually exists? Never seen or heard of it.

Vann's is advertising both right now. Their descriptions are uneven. One version plainly states the entire package as one would expect. The other costs less and has control talk and mic. The color of that one they call brass silver and black. Photos of the in ear part look the same among both versions.

They are authorized. Here's the links (had my phone before, which sucks for copying and pasting links)

http://www.vanns.com/shop/servlet/item/features/751134968/monster-cable-miles-davis-tribute?s_c=site_search

and

I'll post this and then test that the links work.

Links work. I first discovered this by having see the MDT on Amazon.( Where they got them from, who knows?)

Never seen it with a mic...

Well regardless the colour thing they have there...it's just them (Vann's) being a little careless with the marketing/advertising.

They are the same thing - If anything, just to be sure, why not give them a quick call?

Called Vanns. They said that it's the same headphone; same sound, except with control talk and mic; minus the extras that come with the original packaged set.

minus the extras?

What the heck?
How can it be missing the extra tips etc??

Hm...even they are an authorised dealer why would they sell something partial.
