Well to be fair, the Jamz and lil jamz are pretty subdued. I sincerely think the color combination works well for the MD, and what it references, even though I normally prefer a more subdued, classy look. But I just love pretty much everything blue. The golds really make me wanna puke a little though =[

Yeah, I think I could live with the blue cable too, if it were the only bright part of the set (I think the blue cable is growing on me). Let's say the gold accents were a nice charcoal dark grey instead, then the blue would be the one cool deep color. But oh well.

And I wholeheartedly agree... the Golds are really over the top. The Coppers are surprisingly blingy in person too. It's funny that in hand, the MD's are the least offensive, aesthetic-wise. Their sound sure doesn't offend though!

@CN11

How goes the Copper burn in? Looking forward to your take on Copper v. MD. Also let us know if the added treble in the Coppers brings forward any trace of Sibilance. Although the Golds I've tried have a bit less on the high end than I was hoping for (still superior to the 530's) I was happy they were perfect at making everything enjoyable regardless of how poorly engineered the recording was. As much as I like detail and extension you would find in a BA I am really enjoying these dynamic Monsters.

Starting to think I want a dynamic universal while I save up for a multi driven BA custom....hmm.....

@Knubbe

How do you like those sleeves on your MD's? Were they originally made for IE8's??

Anaxilus-
Well I have close to 40 hours on the Coppers, and I've taken breaks to listen several times, and I still hear them as more constrained in the soundstage than the MD's. They do sound a tad more biting in the top end too. I liken the differences I'm hearing to this: If the Coppers are akin to a highly detailed, near field small monitor speaker (but still with great bass), then the MD's are like a big, effortless floor stander.

The MD's still sound much more open, relaxed, and layered. The Coppers are more analytical to me. I'd say they're just about equally as dynamic, but not as open and spacious sounding.

My ears still want the MD's in whenever I have a listen to the Coppers, unfortunately.

Hope that helps!

I have been alternating the MDs and the CK10s every day as I travel to and from work on the train for a about a week now.

These headphones are not the most accurate set of headphones, but that is not Monster's intention. As I expected, the MD's have been designed for enjoyment not analytical listening.

And.....they did an amazing job!! The MD's are an extremely musical pair of headphones. Although they may sound "EQ'd" .... they have a thick full bodied sound that is very enjoyable. That emphasis on the mid-range grabs your attention and doesnt let go.

I absolutely love these IEMs, they offer a great contrast to my CK10s.

When I look for audio equipment I firstly look for equipment that offers the truest sound reproduction. I can't help the need to want my music reproduced exactly the way it was orginally recorded (I do a little bit of "studio" mixing) However analytical equipment is a love hate relationship. Some days you love it, others you dislike it. Listening to my CK10's can be fatiguing at times depending on genres. These MDs offer you an enjoyable listening experience...hours of fatigue free listening!!! Musical is the word!!

If you are listening to your IEMs right now and they dont make you crack a smile every once then you gotta give these MDs a try....

Yes. Luckily I was still in the period where I could have any changes done, and they had a Monster Turbine mold already, so I was able to get it done quickly. It's really exposing the limitations of the E5, so I'm waiting anxiously for my Arrow to come in, hopefully sometime next week.

Who made your custom sleeves for your MDs, and what is the price range?
post #189 of 2250
I got them from listenhear.com They cost $90, + whatever your impressions cost.

how is the SQ of the MD's,Coppers,Golds compared to some Westone 3, Shure E530s or triple.fi 10?

was thinking about getting some Monster Turbines but since cn11 and some other people on here have had some problems with theirs (regarding volume etc.) i'm a little concerned now.
my PMP right now is an iPod touch. the Monster Turbines seem to require a lot of power. don't wanna be recharging my ipod like every day or so.

Sq on the golds/coppers is very good indeed after they have been burnt in,comparable with the other phones you mention, all of which i have, and by the way those ofter three can be prone to sibilance from time to time (westone 3 often) ive never had eny sibilance on the monstersand i must say i vastly prefure the golds and coppers sq over the westone 3 enyday !

my ipod classic with line out dock cable and p3+ heron amp will run for around 25hrs before recharging is required.

great, thanks for your opinion. what do you think of the cable? does it seem to break easily? is it stiff or rather bendable?
i can't really decide whether i should go with customs or universals. going with universals i am undecided between the ones i have mentioned. till now i haven't heard that much about the turbines but people seem to be pretty happy with them.

the cable is a soft rubber like material ,very bendable not stiff and does not tangle up to much, its well made and seems as good quality as the ie8s cable although it is not detatchable.

All the phones you mention are great iems and when you get to this price range i dont think i could really say that eny one is better than the others,they all have there strenghts and weekness ,it really comes down to what sound signiture your after and fit ,isolation etc

yeah i know. in this price range most of the IEMs are gonna sound good everyone with their own sound signature. right now i favour the W3 even though they might be prone to sibilance. i want to have an IEM with a clear and natural sound. not too less bass and not to much bass neither. it has to have a wide soundstage as well.
the turbines don't seem to sound that natural and a bit too bassy as i've heard??
i still think they are good earphones though.

as you said a couple posts above that you would prefer monster turbines above W3s any day i conclude you have listened to the W3s before right?
what exactly is it that you think the turbines do better? what kind of music do you listen to?
