I have an external hard drive connected to my notebook through a usb cable. The software schedules a backup once a week with no options for a different setting. Is there any software that will give me a continuous backup. I am using Win 7 64 bit. Thank you for any guidance...Rick

There's a backup utility in Windows 7, is that what you're using? I believe you can set it to daily backups. it's incremental I believe, so you only back up changed files daily.

Shadow Copy...that explanation sails right over my head. Now if someone could show me how to hack the registry .....I don't know what goes on under the hood in Windows...maybe a registry hack has nothing to do with getting a continuous backup

It's like Time Machine in OS X. Say you have a document you've edited a few times over the past three weeks. if you right click, go to properties and then the shadow copy tab you should be able to see a list of previous versions of that file.

I swear by SyncBack SE for all of my synchronizing/backup needs. Easy to use, and you can schedule backups and syncs any way you want. I wouldn't be caught without it.
