Just got my RS1i - and it arrived wounded - Page 2

i would return it and ask for a new pair. if you ever decide to sell it in the future, you may not get the money you should deserve. the only downside is that you're gonna have to make trip to the post office, and spend some money on shipping.
when i bought a pair of grado sr325i, the left housing kept on falling off from the metal thingy (i dont even know what it's called). i could've simply used some crazy glue and put it back but since it was a brand new (and expensive) item, i returned it and received a new pair.

Agreed. Grado needs some better QC, but send it back!

The picture may not be portraying everything. The exposed wood you see in between the charred wood just above it, and discolored grate below it, is from what I can only guess was a micro fire that broke out during some soldering procedure.

I'm still undecided as to whether or not I'm going to return them. Living in Canada, this whole shipping back and forth procedure is lengthy and ultimately annoying.

...this is why I say a word of prayer before opening any of my cans packaging when I receive one. I'm in the Caribbean!!!

So far, I've had only one mishap and it was with one of my Amps. It was a trauma to return the thing and get it exchanged. Very pricey and lengthy process. I'll soon have an RS1 on the way too.....

If u return them, u might want to call first to discuss their process for returns. If u pursue and they turn u down, please let us know for future reference.

i went through 3 different pairs and ended up returning them all.
1. Bent Rod
2. Awful finish on the wood. They looked sanded and unsanded all over.
3. Looked nice but decided the price was not worth it over all.

Do you still have your RS2i?

Would you buy a new car with a dent in the fender or a crack in the windshield? I say fight bad quality control and send them back! Good luck!

I'd still try to return it despite the wait-time, but call Grado first to discuss the return protocol. Unless you /don't plan/ on reselling in the future and don't mind you spent that much money for a flawed product, there's no reason to be content with that. That is a cosmetic flaw and for the money spent on the phones, it should be immaculate... especially if it's on the freaken wood finish!

Don't wait too long either, so they don't try to flip the story around.

I'd be pretty pissed if this happened to me.

Hope you get a replacement soon.

There is a late Friday RS1 thread somewhere. Grado have dropped the ball with the staining but this one has another issue.

Mountain out of a mole hill. From your picture, it does not look to be that big of a spot. Spend a couple bucks at hobby store for some touchup stain and avoid the trouble of sending them back. I know they should not have come in that condition, but in the long run it will be less of a hassle for you than trying to teach Grado a lesson. You might also consider sending that picture to Grado. Maybe a discount or at least a refund of shipping charges is possible.

Unacceptable at that price.
