Just got some grado sr225's and forgot to get the adapter
I can order them online but I would like to grab them right away locally...is it a huge sound quality loss getting something other than a grado adapter?

Nope

They say it's a good idea to get that type of adapter (with the cable, rather than just a plug with two slots).

Beyond that, you should be good to go.

most electronics stores should carry them right?
everything is closed right now so I can't phone to check

I was thinking of going to radioshack? best buy?

Sound quality would be the same, but the straight ones without cable in between will be rough on your headphone jacks.

I would be plugging the headphones into a nuforce icon dac

Extra weight, and the balancing point will be farther from the jack.

I know the uDAC is very low to the desk. If the Icon is too, consider just shoving something underneath the far end of the plug to help hold up the weight. That should be enough, really.

Alternatively, get an amp with a 1/4 jack
