replacement for iaudio x5l 30 GB

Thread Starter
Well sad and terrible day, My beloved x5 is dead now. Mostly do to me trying to repair the headphone jack over and over. I had it for just over 3 years exactly and paid a nice hefty 400cad after shipping and what not.

I loved everything about it but would have liked at least 2 more years out of it before any stupid problems like a headphone jack breaking.

So now I'm looking for a replacement.

What I'm looking for in order of priority.

1) build quality and longevity. (Pretty hard to measure )
2) no proprietary software/other garbage and operate as an external drive (sorry apple)
3) sound quality
4) space preferably 16gb or more
5) and finally what ever other features

Anyone got any ideas? Thing's look quite limited right now. Considering the i9 and the s9 looks fancy but its a hell of a lot of money.

Any feedback is really appreciated.
Thanks Dan

I have a Creative Zen 32gig that I'm pretty happy with. It's only $140 on Amazon.
anythingbutipod did a review on it a year or more ago and compared the sound directly to the X5 and had a favorable review but then deemed it evil for the lack of SD integration. Also it's been out long enough it seems the bugs are out of it, seems many had problems with it when it was first released.
