I'm not joe, but you can get the DDM's for $150 on Seyo-shop.com, which is where I ordered mine. Add $9.95 for international shipping, which arrived very quickly, and you've got one of the best values in SQ on the market currently.

SEYO prices went down @ Chris. They once quoted me $230 for the DDM when I had just gotten it for $150. Oh, that $230 didn't include shipping...lol

I considered the DDM, I really did, but for me it basically came down to fit. If you use IEMs on the go, even just walking, then the DDM's fit simply leaves too much to be desired. And if I'm using them sitting in a library or something, then I may as well go with a portable in a backpack. The DDM just seems like an odd nitch, for when you need the portability of an IEM but don't actually plan on doing any moving. But I have small ears to begin with. So maybe people with larger ears would be better able to fit the things.

Now that I removed the ear guides (finally) and they can be inserted deeper, they have moved up my chart even more in SQ, I would rank them possibly equal to the e-Q7 and FX-700, but different.

The accessoryjack prices do not dictate the SRP price of the IEMs in the market.
SRP = Suggested retail price.

This people in HK selling it cheaper then what SRP set price in Japan, ¥15,800 JPY ($170USD) (radius is a Japanese brand, not chines).

 

HK people are able to sell it a bit cheaper probably because they are not covering your expenses in case of Warranty. If something happens to earphones, one will end up paying more at the end for the replacement (shipping and all that). Warranty is essential for this things... We Americans shall stop investing in Chinese economy by purchasing from them,  we should invest in our own country instead.

 

Also I noticed you have SRP for Ortofon e-Q7 is set to 420USD. That is false

SRP Japan for e-Q7 is 29,800 jPY = $325USD

Time to ask this question again.  The first time I asked there were not enough owners to make any sort of consensus due to my premature asking of the question.

I like listening live music, regardless of what it is (well, maybe listening TSOL while trying to relax isn't a great match).  If there is a lobby piano player, band in a coffee shop, etc. I enjoy having the music.  But I wouldn't listen to the same music through my other IEMs, even though I like it.  I do have stuff I would just skip when it came up on random play most of the time and even created a "favorite" music playlist.  Well, that is no more as the SM3 recreates the presentation in a much more accurate way that brings the enjoyment of the "live" performance to me!  That is my reasoning.

 

There will probably be an uproar from people that have not heard the SM3, but please share your thoughts.

 

I will try to be as clear as possible this time.  The reason I am asking is because when I A/Bed the SM3 with the rest of my IEMs, I found the SM3 to be technically superior.  Now, I also found the SM3 to be far more enjoyable also, but the question was always about technical superiority.  Some people may like another IEM better than the SM3, and that is fine.  But technically, from a sonic weakness/performance level, how does it compare. 

 

So here is a question for SM3 owners that also have been able to A/B them with at least 1 other IEM listed in the top-tier chart:

- Is the SM3 a big enough step up from the other "top-tier" IEMs you have compared them to that it deserves to be in a 'top-tier' category all by itself, and all others in a near-top-tier category?

- Please list the IEMs you have compared the SM3 with.

- Has owning the SM3 changed your perspective?

 

All opinions are welcome, but as you can tell I am looking for a comparison of the SM3.  Perspective changes things, so please take that into account if you have not heard the SM3.  Read about what people are saying here and here.  Whatever the consensus is (if enough people respond), that will be reflected in the chart.  Thank you for your time and input.

- ER4P, ER4S, CK10, Ortofon E-Q7.  Will be receiving the Radius DDMs tomorrow so you can throw that in the list too, albeit I haven't heard them and they may blow the SM3 out the water (I'm not a betting man, but a fiver says they won't).

- Yes, everytime I put the SM3 around my ears I  hear the tears of angels and multicoloured butterfly wings flapping in exotic lands. While cool streams lap at my feet and dusky maidens perform unspeakable acts upon my reproductive organs. In comparison, other iems sound like a rabid dog is urinating down my canals while the ghost of George Best is belching putrid sweet nothings in my face and rubbing sandpaper on the back of my neck.

Yes, once you get the right fit/tips, I believe they are alone at the top.

 

No direct comparisons, but I have owned in no particular order: IE8, W3, UM3X, CK10, RE252, W2, ER4P, ER4S (P with cable). Currently own the SM3s, DBA-02s and PR1 Pros. Also have a pair of RE-ZEROs on hand, a review pair.

You should be a betting man!  They are good but don't blow anything out of the water.  It's a best bang per buck IEM in my opinion.  The DBA-02 would be the best price/performance BA and the DDM the best price/performance dynamic driver.

I can say without a shadow of a doubt in my mind that the SM3 is technically superior by a fair margin to any of the other phone's in my signature all of which i still own and paired with the right source is one of the most enchanting ,addictive and musical sounding earphones i have heard, it is unlike other phone's in that it disappears in your ear's so you get the impression that you are listening too music being created around you and not music being reproduced through a pair of ear phones.

Amen to that brother, amen to that.  Playing them on the tube train to work, I have to keep looking round to see if anyone else is hearing the majesty of what I'm hearing, cos it doesn't seem to be coming from the little plasticky toys jammed in my ears. Judging by their miserable, downtrodden faces, I feel sad for the poor deluded fools with their ibuds and their Sennheiser C.R.A.P XII Sportz MK2s or whatever they are. And those just reading newspapers need a good kick up the jacksy and pointing in the direction of Handheld Audio. This is where the news is happening brothers and sisters....
