Not everyone.

The SE530 is an efficient IEM and does not require amping.

i thought the same until recently. i've been doing more listening in a quiet room lately and found that compared to on the go the volume I listen to is a little bit louder than in a quiet room. It makes sense to me but it's not a dramatic change.

Yea that's with my 6.5 gen ipod. Feels like the music is far away when its on about 40-50%.

40% vol on the older ipods is as much as i can take with the se530, but the the latest ipods have a much weeker internal amp, have to crank them up to 75% to get the same vol as 40% on my old 2g and 5g ipods

However most of the time now a days i listen to my ipods amped with my p3+ conected by line out dock cable , so the ipods amp is bypassed by the p3+, i can never go above the second volume mark with the se530 which is one mark below a quater vol.
