sonnox is the best EQ I've heard yes(and I've tried zillions of them), it uses the algorithms from the Sony OXF-R3 soundboard...a most excellent board according to all the ppl who tried it: Sony OXF-R3 (Oxford) Console thoughts - Gearslutz.com

some of the best sounding digital EQ i've ever heard
this EQ is simply perfect, totally uncolored and deadly accurate.

use it in mode 2, it's specifically meant to kill resonances....and if you don't have enough bands, you can stack several instances.

my views are only controversial to ppl who don't know better...you have opened Pandora's box anyway, good luck then

I just got back to this post... hmm i actually very quickly gave up on the sonnox eq b/c it didnt offer enough bands. I guess ill have to learn to stack instances. I didnt think that would be possible. Im certainly curious to see if i can even tell the difference between elictriq- and sonnox.

Thanks for the great advice regardless. I think i enjoy tweaking almost as much as i enjoy listening.

I still have to say, as i seem to repeat like a broken record on this forum, that the biggest improvement to my sound to date was following the "how to equalize your headphones" thread relentlessly until i had a nearly perfectly flat sine and pink noise track. I simply couldn't imagine anyone NOT wanting to do this. I will NEVER go back to the stock sound!

like this in any VST host(in 32bit float in foobar, or 16bit integer in winamp):

or like that in uLilith(in 64bit float):

the more instances you stack, the higher the processing bit depth you want to be.

you may wanna RTFM to fully understand how the Sonnox EQ works
