Headphones with the best bass and clarity?

Just out of curiosity, which headphone do you guys think have the best overall bass. When i say best, i mean the most bass but not sacrificing clarity. My HD800's are superb at this but unfortunately, i've always been heavily into Sennheiser and not many other products.

Gear mentioned in this thread:

How do you define "most" as in most bass? Does that include punch? Like the way a kick drum or bass drum hit has punch. Listen to a bass drum hit or kick drum hit on a good pair of full range speakers. You get punch. HD800 don't do that punch (IMHO). If you're looking for bass clarity then the HD800 do that. Punch? No.

I think the HD 800 has exactly the right amount of punch with reference to bass drums, percussion generally and all sorts of acoustic instruments. It doesn't have the «headphone punch» of some (closed) bass specialists, though. And when it comes to bass detail (control and resolution), I've heard nothing better than it.

EDIT: I just realized that you want more bass. So how about trying this mod?

From what I read, I think the HD800s win in this department.

I've yet to listen to the HD800s, but look forward to the day when I can give them a try.

Imo bass is highly dependent on source and amp.

Closed wooden headphones but forget resolution, space and middle tones

Guys, in his sig it says he has the HD800. Try the D7000, and I have yet to hear the T1.

Happy listening!

Ive had a pair of Senn 595's for awhile and just bought a pair of ATH-M50's. The M50's kill the Senn's in the bass department. I knew they would be a little bass heavy according to the reviews but I had no idea they would do it with so much control. The bass is bigger, tighter, and even more detailed than the 595's which is surprising. If you're buying a pair of phones to listen to trance an other electronic music then I wouldnt recommend anything else. But my opinion is only relative. I havent heard anything that one would label "super high-end".

Something between HD-800, and maybe Pro-900, the K702 do the job for me. and The 800 have a nice boost under 50hz over the K702 in the sub area. If the 900 is over bass for you there is the Kees mod, that can help reduce the bass and balance out the 900.

Stax or K1000 for clarity.

I don't like 'headphone punch'. I like the correct reproduction of punch that exists in a recording. Most decent headphones can do it at the correct volume level. Unfortunately, at the same volume level, timbre and cohesiveness in the rest of the range tends to fall apart on most headphones. The HD800 is an exception, as is the DT880 (although to a lesser extent).

I notice that "good bass" for some Head-Fiers equates to prominent bass.

Try the Denon D2000.

Headphones with the best bass clarity?

I found to be HD800.

The best enjoyble bass:
ED8, D7000, and T1 so far.

Best of both?

ED8 or T1
