surround sound files vs stereo files

Hi all, was just wondering..

While listening on headphones, do you prefer surround sound songs or stereo songs?

some of my highest bitrate audio is surround sound, though i'm sure it's because of the whole multi channel thing, but do you notice a big difference?

Thanks for the input!

those are mostly for 5.1 speaker systems. For headphones you are better off with stereo and some Ultrasones

You'll never beat stereo for headphones, surround simply isn't meant for headphones. Even those headphones designed to emulate surround sound simply do just that; emulate. Keep your surround copies for surround systems and a stereo copy for your headphones!
