Ipod Hard Drive upgrade question?

So I have an Ipod 5th gen 30gb. I want to do an DIYMod which is pretty self explanatory. But my question is since I want to upgrade the HDD to a 240gb I will need a 60/80gb. Could I just order a new 80gb back with the headphone jack and just put the internals of my 30gb, plus the 240gb HDD and it all work? Or will I need to start with a 60/80gb? Thanks

I was planning to do what you were going to do but from all the research I have done I found that the 240gb would only work with the 60/80gb models only because it has more ram to support the extra 120+/gb's.
What I ended up doing was installing a 120gb which is a lot cheaper especially buying it off ebay.
Also the 120gb only works in the 5.5 and not in the 5th gen. Which I found only after spending a entire day ripping my hair trying to figure why it wont work but after I installed it into the 5.5 the worked without a hitch.

I can personally confirm it works with the 5.5 gens but not the 5th generations.

Im thinkin of the 64gb ssd into a 30gb pod but was also wanting to do the diymod and was wondering if theres enough room in there in which to put the capacitors instead of having them EXternally.?

Hi SHY

I`m used the SSD is GREEN HOUSE(in Japan)

 (type GH-SSD64GP-1MA)

It is difficult to obtain. Because the production is over

SSD works with the iPod is fast. It is very light weight.
