WOW, the battery life increase is almost double. I rarely get over 15 hours of use using the original hard drive, now it passed 20 hours and still have a 1/3 left.

not done a proper batter test with mine as it's away having some blackgate caps fitted

i was surprised by how much lighter it was though

Has anyone tried a 64gb CF with the Tarkan adapter? I just got my adpater and am looking for a 64gb CF (128gb is still too expensive).

I decided to install an 80GB Toshiba HDD that I had lying around. So far I have 40GB of music loaded on it. As soon as I receive the 30 AWG wire I am going to do the DIY Imod.

I upgraded to the 64GB few weeks ago, it is a simple swap and do a restore.  I have the Patriot Signature 64 GB 266x...

I'm thinking of doing this mod too. The whirring / clicking HD is a big distraction for me when the iPod is in my hands. I could just get a case, but the battery life increase of the mod makes me think it is worth it. I'm a complete novice at DIYing iPods, is this easy enough for a beginner to do? And what parts would I need. Obviously the CF card, but what else should I buy?

ETA: Found some cool info from the Tarkan website. I've been able to discover that you need the adapter, the CF card, an iPod Video, and an opening tool. He's also got some nice instructions on there as well if anybody wants to check them out (http://www.tarkan.info/20080126/tutorials/32gb-compact-flash-ipod). Is there anything else I should know?

ETA 2: Can anyone recommend a particular best bang for buck 32GB CF card as well please, thanks.

A heavy gauge delrin guitar pick works much better than the regular opening tools, check your local guitar store.

The CF adapter can be bought very cheaply from ebay, mine was $3 shipped from china, arrived in a week and works perfectly.

It's a great mod, I'm very pleased with mine.
