Archos 5 ALAC

Thread Starter
Hey guys, thanks in advance. I got an Archos 5 250GB and I love it, however I am unsure how to get it to play Apple Loss less files. I drag and drop them on to the device as I do anything else, but it says the format not playable?

I don't think the Archos 5 is compatible with Apple Lossless files.

you have to buy the plug-in for AAC not sure about ALAC. Just use flac if you can.

Archos 5 Specs
Quote:
Audio playback**: Stereo MP3 decoding @ 30-320 Kbits/s CBR & VBR, WMA, Protected WMA, WMA pro 5.1, WAV (PCM/ADPCM).
AC3 stereo audio and 5.1 sound files (via SPDIF output of DVR Station)
Flac and OGG Vorbis audio files

With optional software plug-in:
AAC3 and AAC+ stereo audio files
No ALAC mentioned so looks like it does not support it..

Yea convert them to WAV then down to MP3 320.... that's what I would do anyway. Unfortunately to my ears the Archos 5 doesn't have the best sound :/ You'd do better on battery and storage (although it has tons lol) by using mp3 320.

(I have the Archos 5 250 as well).
